This review is from: Garmin Nuvi 1370T 4.3" Sat Nav with UK, Full Europe, USA and Canada Maps, Bluetooth and Free Lifetime Traffic (Newly Overhauled) (Electronics) I bought my Sat Nav as a re-conditioned unit from Amazon. It was reconditioned by Garmin and has a Garmin waranty.I am delighted, it is so simple to use, I updated it all when it arrived, again easy to do, it took about an hour but once conected I just left it till it had finished. my last Sat Nav was a Mio, Garmin beats it hands down! It recalculates fast if you need to change your route because of a problem on the road and the map itself is very clear and easy to follow. I have GB, Europe and the USA on mine, I have used GB & Europe with no problem. We go to the USA quite a lot so in October I will find out how it does across the Atlantic, I'm sure it won't be a problem. Check with Amazon regards reconditioned Garmin models, mine cost 140 for a model that costs nearly 300 off the shelf and come with free lifetime map updates. Would I recommend this Garmin product? YES I WOULD 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful Fully Satisfactory, This review is from: Garmin Nuvi 1370T 4.3" Sat Nav with UK, Full Europe, USA and Canada Maps, Bluetooth and Free Lifetime Traffic (Newly Overhauled) (Electronics) I bought the earlier, much reviewed, 1370T version in April 2012. I chose it because it had USA as well as European maps and I had been greatly helped by a comparable US model in California in March. I had previously owned a top-of-the-line Tomtom, (voice recognition etc) which had abruptly stopped working on an Italian motorway soon after I had paid expensively for an updated set of maps. This has everything one needs--very clear voice guidance with street names, full screen information, and remarkably detailed maps. It has had very little difficulty in adjusting continents, although for a time it kept trying to work out the best route from its home base in Killiney (Ireland) to Denver, Colorado. As one reviewer notes, the recalculating feature is extremely rapid. But this has its downside. Tomtom told one to "turn around when possible". Garmin never does--as we discovered when having carelessly missed the entrance to a motorway we were taken several miles through small... It arrived swiftly, was easy to set up and would highly recommend. |

TomTom Start 20 4.3" Sat Nav with Europe Maps (45 Countries) Reviews
464 of 475 people found the following review helpful Yeah, like it a lot.., By This review is from: TomTom Start 20 4.3" Sat Nav with UK and Ireland Maps (Electronics) I've been somewhat cynical in the past about owning one preferring to stick with a paper map. I thought I should get with the times and having seen a more expensive unit when a friend came around for the weekend, I decided to opt for an entry level device. The price for this Tom-Tom did not seem overly expensive. In the box is: the Sat Nav itself a car charger lead [which joins to...] a USB cable [which joins the unit itself to the charger] a paper quick start guide This Sat Nav can sit on a dashboard beanbag [purchased separately] if you decide to go for this. It uses a sucker which with a simple twist locks the seal. Alternatively it will attach itself to the inside of the windscreen using the same method. Out of the box and into the car then, the Sat Nav found my home position quickly after powering it up. I set this and I was up and running in five minutes tops. The first thing to do is to find your destination and you can... So I switched it on, had a play and it seemed basic but functional. Then I plug it in to update the map and since then it's just not worked.Firstly, you can't back up your old map so if you install a new map it deletes your old one first before downloading your new one. Consequently if you're download doesn't work then you've a satnav with no maps or a brick. I've been onto Tomtom about it but as with most IT companies they ask you what system you're using, Pc or Mac, what browser, wireless, wired..? Personally if the unit is going to be that picky about how it gets it's data then it's just not worth the effort. My grievance isn't with the unit but the way it's 'updated' or destroyed as in my case. I wouldn't buy another Tomtom if it had to be accessed by Mytomtom... Was initially tempted by the XXL as the price of those have come down now TomTom has updated their range. However the XXL has only 2GB worth of memory and therefore any updates to the European maps will not fit (so one has to choose what part of Europe one wants to install- not great if you want to go to Italy e.g.).The good: - The Start 25 EU has 4GB memory. - Excellent screen. Great detail, which gives you a good idea of the road system around where you are travelling. In case you want to get off your choosen route e.g when motorway signs tell you there are delays up ahead. - Also better size: 5 inches is easier to see especially when mounted further away on the windscreen - '3D' view is excellent. - There are many ways you can adapt the screen and alerts to your own taste. E.g. how the map looks, how many instructions you want... Read more |

90 of 90 people found the following review helpful An Excellent Sat Nav, By This review is from: TomTom Start 60 6" Sat Nav with Full Europe Maps (45 Countries) (Electronics) I purchased the TT Start 60 from Halfords a few days ago and am mightily impressed by it. The 6 inch screen display is stunning and displays all the information you could wish for, while driving, very clearly. Speed camera information even includes those sites that are often used by mobile camera units. A fixed speed camera position that was shut down a few weeks ago is not registered on the sat nav so it suggests the information is pretty well up to date. Perhaps this reflects the value of the TomTom community that supplies update info to TT, which is verified and then made freely available via downloads to owners. Rather than extoll all the virtues of this remarkable sat nav I suggest a read of the cnet review could settle any questions you may have regarding which sat nav you should buy. Having registerd the Start 60 with TomTom I am well on the way to getting a promotional offer of 20 cash back thus making this an even better value for money purchase. Why did I buy from... This review is from: TomTom Start 60 6" Sat Nav with Full Europe Maps (45 Countries) (Electronics) The TomTom Start 60 is a great Satnav. The build quality is strong and the operation of the device is simple and straight forward, no buttons or menus where there need not be one. So far so good! The device it self is bigger than I expected, at first It was almost laughable. My girlfriends sat nav fits within the viewable area of this, with room to spare! However once I started to use it, I soon realised the benefits of having such a large screen, firstly you dont have to attach a magnify glass to your face just to see the instructions and secondly the buttons are large and the screen is so responsive that the two combined make for a great user experience. When acquiring a signal its extremely fast, were talking a few seconds. However this is likely due to my location and could be different for you. However its ability to reroute should I ignore its directions or take a wrong turn are equally as quick. The voice instructions are clear and if set to the Serena voice, it will even read...
